From Autumn to Winter with Tara A. Chadwick

For immediate release

Tuesday, December 13, 2022

Fort Lauderdale, FL.

The Fall season is always a busy time in Florida as it marks not only the start of the annual stretch of well loved winter holidays but also the beginning of the height of the arts, culture and tourism season here in the Sunshine State. After two years of precautious, arms length and virtual engagements due to pandemic health concerns, this autumn feels like it was the busiest on record. Coming out of a whirlwind world tour that started in Lee County last October and ended last week in Wynwood, visual and performance works of Tara A. Chadwick made stops in Hong Kong, Sydney, London, Zurich, Laguna Beach, Rome, Palma de Mallorca and the Milk of Dreams Venice Biennale along the way. Installation and performance work was manifested locally at Miami Beach Botanical Garden, Greenspace Miami, downtown Fort Lauderdale, Miramar and Everglades National Park. Collaborations are ongoing and developing. Follow and message me on instagram for invitations & inquiries!

Below are a few key highlights of the year in review:

  • Upcoming intergenerational enrichment experience exploring winter science & celebrations at Sunset Lakes Community Center next Wednesday, December 21st at 10:30-11:30 am.
  • Chono Thlee: Sparking a New Era in Seminole Art exhibition curated by Tara Chadwick on view through January 10th at History Fort Lauderdale.
  • Digital art (custom limited edition prints available) on view last week in Wynwood during the 20th anniversary of Art Basel Miami Beach in Tara A. Chadwick at Artbox Project Miami (virtual tour).
  • Papalotl (Butterfly) Project Social Innovation Fellow at Cogenerate.
Special thanks to Akeesha Nadjiwon Footman for being the first to add one of the limited edition Matriarch prints to her prestigious Canadian fine art collection. And to each and every one of you who keeps on supporting me through the many ideas, goals and the often intense work that goes into making those dreams become our reality. I am so thankful for YOU. Let's keep on building wider, stronger, smarter, together!

Press release: 20 years of Art Basel Miami

Sunday, November 13, 2022

Digital works by Tara Chadwick featured in Wynwood this month during Miami Art Week

For immediate release:

After a strong year of global showings including LA, Rome, Venice, Zurich and London, artist and curator Tara Chadwick welcomes the return of "Matriarch" to its original digital format at the Artbox Expo Miami later this month.

While navigating the social changes predicated by the COVID pandemic, Ms. Chadwick adapted her lifelong art and urban farming practice to focus on symbolic messaging, inspiring global audiences to take notice of and act on our need to repair our relationships with the earth and each other. Matriarch manifests our ability to take the time we need to observe, understand, grieve, heal, emerge, awaken and take flight toward our life purpose. In doing so we are better able to forgive, accept, make amends or reconcile discord and wounds of the past and present, and move into the future with strength, experience and dignity.

Matriarch along with "Chrysalis" and "Emergence" will be on view at 219 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL 33127, USA from November 28 through December 10th. The Art party/ reception is scheduled for 3-7 pm on Saturday, December 3rd. Tickets are required for entry and can be booked at:

Each print is available for custom order in a limited edition of 25.

Broward County, FL, October 20, 2022 -- CoGenerate (formerly Encore.org) today announced that Tara Chadwick has been selected as one of 15 Gen2Gen Innovation Fellows, a group of the nation’s most talented innovators and entrepreneurs marshaling their best ideas to create and scale intergenerational solutions.

Tara Chadwick, a local artist and social innovator was selected from a field of more than 120 applicants. Her project brings elders and children together to share knowledge about food, health and urban farming through art and culture.

“I am honored and excited to join CoGenerate in their third cohort of Innovation Fellows focused on strengthening our practice of bringing people together across generations and geographies to build knowledge through vibrant, intercultural experiences.” TChadwick

CoGenerate, a nonprofit bridging generational divides, launched the fellowship to spur and support new ways to bring older and younger people together to solve pressing problems.

The 15 fellows selected, ranging in age from 27 to 75, are bridging generational divides while also fighting for racial and environmental justice, empowering immigrant communities, healing trauma, registering young people to vote, reducing ageism and loneliness, and so much more.

Launching the Papalotl (Butterfly) Project 2022-23

It is with a great amount of gratitude that I announce our 2022 launch of the Papalotl (Butterfly) Project.

In a switch from past years, the project seeks to expand knowledge of how to foster intergenerational communication around social, agricultural and environmental science while engaging in culture based contemporary art.

The Papalotl (Butterfly) Project will work with preschool children and seniors to develop their awareness and appreciation of community held scientific knowledge, then develop best practices for cross generational sharing through art.

A pilot test of the program was conducted in 2021-22 and will expand to monthly workshops, presentations, and sharing circles with a capstone showcase.

If you have attended a Papalotl workshop or presentation, please click here to complete the following 5 questions: Here's what I learned about #MesoamericanDanza today. (All questions are optional!)

Friendly Neighbors

Storms bring us so much to think through and let go of, whether we're ready or not. Today's news clips of the realities our west coast neighbors are living through bring back so many memories of rough times gone by. I just happened to be reflecting last week, long before we knew what was to come our way yesterday.

Thankful for all the helpers and doers, remembering those in need of our assistance, and maintaining focus on the path ahead and how we can keep building together for a future where life matters at least as much as our comforts.

Last call to see Golden Promise in Rome.

Golden Promise juxtaposes the imminent occurrence of sea level rise with citizen science water monitoring, contemporary art, performance and non point source water pollution prevention in locations surrounding my neighborhood. At a time when we struggle to find joy, clarity, understanding and purpose, I continue my commitment to honor self, family and community through local interactions amplified globally. By sharing personal reflections, actions and experimentations, I hope to inspire friends, neighbors and strangers to take note of the beauty and responsibility we have in protecting nature. It is here that we find peace, nourishment and our blueprint to the future.

Independence Day (which is also my birthday) in Rome 🇧🇿

So many artists, creatives and systems changers go about doing their daily work with little to no support. But once in a while someone reaches out a helping hand of encouragement, advise or financial investment. These are the moments that enable us to keep going despite the daily hardships that come along with walking the path to our destiny. This afternoon as I sit here enjoying the first of my final four days of fortysomethinghood, I feel thankful for all the work being done by strong heart minded people to nudge us all toward that life path of purpose set out before us as we chose our mission. Yes our patriotism and national pride propel us to a shared identity, but our life purpose and pursuit are what bind us to each other and the legacy we prepare to leave behind. Not for the glory but rather for the wellness of those who will one day follow in our footsteps. Let's keep supporting one another to dream bigger, feel deeper, and cast a wider net as we continue to pursue the dreams that will lead us all to the highest possible achievement: balance.

On to Rome!

On this 12th month of my journey to find new ways of interacting with the world near and far, I am please to announce next week's world premiere of the short film #GoldenPromise comprised of still and video footage of last year's interaction with Adam Kuby, MicroGalleries and FIU for a Global Day of Creative Action on Climate which coincided with Citizen Sea Level Rise Action Day here in South Florida.

I am overjoyed to have this work featured among a small but brilliant cadre of fellow artists. It is indeed an era of transition, a time we have anticipated, our turn to listen, learn, strategize and take action! Let our creativity and love for science and math lead the way.

Viva la tierra, agua y fuego!

Women's Club Kudos & Closing day reflections on virtually visiting Zurich.

Today marks closing day for my inaugural artistic presence at the Zurich main train station Swiss Art Expo... part of a year long  exploration of ways to broaden and deepen my art impact. The experience has been deeply gratifying, it has definitely made me want to come and visit in person. I have learned so much about the organization and process of engaging in an international exhibition with over 100 artists and curators. But the awareness that has developed most for me through all of this is the importance of detailed communication and outreach for both onsite and offsite audiences and artists.

My hope for expanding the geography of my art message was to see if I could use visual art as a way to inspire fellow human beings to notice, appreciate and take action in support of our land, air and water. Because in doing so, we also bring hope and wellness to ourselves and all the beings with whom we share this home called Earth. For more information about my #GoldenHour series, see Global Day of Climate Action collaboration.

Thank you so much Kaitlin Maier and American Women’s Club Zurich for coming to enjoy the #SwissArtExpo art party yesterday, and for sharing with me these photos that give a sense of how my work appeared within the historic Haupbanofplatz.

You can learn more about yesterday's art party or today's closing events at #swissartexpo on my Instagram page @wabigun.

Thank you again Kaitlin, American womens Club Zurich, and the amazing team @swissartexpo.

Next stop: a virtual contemporary performance at Medina Gallery, Rome September 16-29. Details will be posted soon at FB /wabigun.

Thank you all for your support!

Yours truly,
Tara A. Chadwick

Andrew 🌀 at 30 and Climate Action ART!

On this day 30 years ago, I had just stopped in at my parents' for a few days enroute from spending my third summer as an archaeology and museology intern at the Government of Belize's Department of Archeology. During the rest of the year, I worked as Visitor Services and Information Officer at the front desk of the Royal Ontario Museum, a part time job I started in high school. But this was my first time engaging in curatorial work planning, developing and implementing a travelling exhibition from rummaging cases, to choosing artifacts, to researching and writing label text, to safe handling and packaging (thank you John Morris, Teresa Batty and Paul Francisco) for long distance rustic travel over land and sea! The exhibiton was received with interest, enthusiasm and lots of questions at the San Pedro Sea and Air Festival.

Today, as I reflect on the wake of Hurricane Andrew this morning on the 3rd decade anniversary, I realize that the work we do to inspire, educate and motivate ourselves applies equally internally and externally. I chose to pursue an interest in cultural anthropology as a way to learn more about who I am, and that has led me to an understanding of my place and purpose in the world. These social and physical Sciences are all avenues of elucidation of our simple role as human beings on this living earth planet. Respect life. Take care of ourselves and each other. If you make a mess, clean it up. Learn from your mistakes. Be aware of your surroundings. Think for yourself.

Simple things to propel a life and a lifeform.

#Swissartexpo opens today Aug 24 and runs through Sunday, Aug 28 at the main train station event hall in Zurich, Switzerland.

Tara Chadwick Interview

We are into the last month of summer and the last few days of our extended participation of visual and performance art in Italy over the past five months since the opening day of the 59th Venice Biennale.

Matriarch will complete her Venice journey this Friday. Recently, I had a few moments to discuss my views and experiences with ITSLIQUID founder, Luca Curci.

I am grateful for this extraordinary experience of reaching my goal to dance with the world.

See you in Zurich!
