#Matriarch on view in Venice, Italy

Now through May 31, you can go get a glimpse of #Matriarch at Tanarte / Spazio Tana just across the bridge from the Arsenale of La Biennale de Venezia.

As a satellite to the world's most important art show, the Biennale Art Expo provides local and international artists with the opportunity to learn about the global art market by participating. Prizes, competitions and proposals are what seems to make the art world go around and there are plenty of platforms and calls to explore.

As a curator and museologist, my work has always been focused on educating and inspiring the public by presenting someone else's art. It is decidedly more difficult to find ways of promoting one's own work. However at this time in our human history I feel it is my responsibility to share, on as large a scale as possible, a window into the intimate relationship we humans have with our environment. Whether we carry that awareness with us every moment of every day, or forget until we take a vacation or a walk on the beach, we ARE the earth and the Earth is US. We need to use all our tools, power and creativity to start acting as though we care about ourselves, each other and our Mother the Earth.

Matriarch is a reminder to us. Of the cycles of life. And of our responsibility to be accountable for the actions that we allow to happen. We may not always feel empowered to make changes that may often seem outside of our ability to effect. But each need to make that extra effort to work together to achieve a way of living on the Earth that does not harm ourselves.

We are all children of Mother Earth. We are free and life is fleeting. Our responsibility is to ensure that life can continue to unfold for the coming generations.

Let's use this moment of newness and  unfurling to get ready to organize, then take flight!!!!
